Background :

Native of Thebes, on the planet of Boetia, Philocteta grew up in the slums, learning to survive amongst the poorest of the poor.  Given to soul-searching, able to read and write at a very young age and turn her knowledge into stories, she was named a Dreamer by her community, and dedicated to the temple of Artemis.

As a novice of Artemis, Philocteta learned many things, but excelled above all in marksmanship.  A priestess' initiation is a solemn but usually fairly mundane event, involving some sort of ritual undertaking.  Philocteta chose to disappear for a month into the mountains, disguised as a man and tracking the Bacchantes, stealing from their campfires and even provoking them to fury.  Her survival skills and stealth were the key to her survival in this most deadly of tasks.

She recently left the temple compound in order to spread the faith in Artemis, with the ultimate goal of founding a temple of the Boetian model upon another world.  She met with the crew of the Argo in a bar in Thebes, and both took an instant liking to each other.
