Campaign Steps

Campaign Turn

Step 1 : Upkeep and Ship Repairs

-  Upkeep : Ignore

-  Ship Debt : Ignore

-  Ship Repairs

-  Pay for Medical Care 

 

Step 2 : Assign and Resolve Crew Tasks

Choose 6 crew members for this step; the rest are busy manning and maintaining the ship

Add the Benefits of Loyalty crew task.  This is available only to the Captain (Compendium p.112

Add the Faction Job crew task.  A roll of 1d6 equal to or less than Loyalty is required (Compendium p.111).  A Faction Job will entail Danger Pay with a +3 modifier.

Find a Patron : only a natural 6 adds a Patron 

 

Step 3 : Determine Job Offers

If the crew have received a Faction Job or a Patron Job, generate the details for it

-  Danger Pay :  the credits are replaced by kudos for the world the employer is based on

-  Time Frame

-  BHC

House Rule : If the new job can be completed in a future turn rather than in the current one, immediately perform, for this job, the Mission Selection phase (Compendium p.116-147) and, if required, the Battle Steps 1 to 3.

 

Step 4 : Assign Equipment

 

Step 5 : Resolve Rumours 

If a Quest is generated, there is (slight) possibility that it is a Bug Hunt, which implies a strike against Chaos, forced on the crew by a Divine.  Refer to Bug Hunt at the back of the Compendium. 

 

Step 6 : Choose your Battle

If the Story Clock has reached 0 Ticks, skip this step and play the next Story Clock scenario, and also determine the next Story Clock event if this has not already been decided.  If not : 

-  Check for Rivals

If no Rival has intervened then :

-  Choose to carry out a waiting Faction Job or Patron Job 

-  or choose to Attack a Rival

-  or choose to Continue a Quest

-  or choose an Opportunity Mission 

Determine the type of mission by referring to Mission Selection (Compendium p.116-147

 

Battle

If Mission Selection has determined that this is a Conventional Battle, then follow these steps : 

Step 1 : Determine Deployment Conditions

If this is a Faction Job or a Patron Job, refer instead to Expanded Missions (Compendium p.76-77)

 

Step 2 : Determine the Objective 

At this step, refer instead to Expanded Missions (Compendium p.75

 

Step 3 : Determine the Enemy

Open the Ganesha Games Squad Builder

Load the Character Special Rules roster into the Squad Builder (Edit Special Rules / Load / Replace Special Rules) 

Convert the Five Parsecs enemy profile into a Flying Lead profile and add any weapons and equipment.

 

Step 4 : Set up the Battlefield

 

Step 5 : Begin Play 

-  Attempt to Seize the Initiative (p.112) 

Now refer to the Enemy Deployment Variables (Compendium p.44

-  At the end of Round 1, if the enemy is outnumbered by 3 or more; or at the end of any Round in which any enemy were removed from play or a crew member attained an objective, make an Escalation Check (Compendium p.46), to a limit of 3

-  At the end of Round 2, roll for a Battle Event (p.116)

-  At the end of Round 4, roll for a Battle Event (p.119)


Post-Battle Activities

Step 1a : Story Clock Countdown (5PfH p.153) 

 

Step 1b : Resolve Rival Status

 

Step 2a : Adjust Faction Loyalty

If this was a successful Faction Job, or an Affiliated Patron Job, adjust Loyalty (Compendium, p.112)

 

Step 2b : Resolve Patron Status

House Rule : 

-  Roll 1D10 for each Patron for whom a mission was performed, but the crew did not Achieve the Objective.  On a 1 the Patron becomes a Rival.  On a 2 or 3 the Patron is lost.  -1 for each previous mission in which this occurred, since the last successful one.

-  Roll 1D10 for each Patron who was not sollicited for a mission this campaign turn, and who does not currently have a mission waiting to resolve.  On a 1 or 2 the Patron is lost.

-  Roll 1D10 for each Patron who had a mission waiting to resolve, and that was not carried out in time.  On a 1 the Patron becomes a Rival.  On a 2 the Patron is lost.  On a 3 the Patron is lost, unless he has a mission waiting to resolve.

 

Step 3 : Determine Quest Progress

 

Step 4 : Get Paid

 

Step 5 : Battlefield Finds

 

Step 6 : Check for Invasion 

If Invasion occurs, see how each Faction on the affected world reacts (Compendium p.114

 

Step 6b : Check for Instability 

If the current world is Unstable, roll for Instability (Compendium p.148-151

 

Step 6c : Check for Faction Activities

Perform this for Factions on all worlds (or, if desired, on the current world only).  See Compendium p.113 

 

Step 7 : Gather Loot

 

Step 8 : Determine Injuries and Recovery

House Rule (using FL) : 

A character suffering a "Killed in Action" result must roll twice on the Injury Table.

A character suffering a "Gory Death" result must roll three times.

In each case, the worst result must be taken.

 

Step 9 : Experience and Character Upgrades

House Rule (using FL) : 

Character Upgrades can include any Character Special Rule from the "Inherent Capacities and Training" list.  The XP cost is equal to the cost of the skill.  

 

Step 10 : Invest in Advanced Training

To the standard options, add those listed in the Compendium p.25-27

 

Step 11 : Purchase Items

To the standard options, add those listed in the Compendium p.25-27

 

Step 12 : Roll for a Campaign Event

 

Step 13 : Roll for a Character Event

 

Step 14a :  Roll for Faction Events
