5PfH p.76 ss.
Step 1 : Upkeep and Ship Repairs
- Upkeep : Ignore
- Ship Debt : Ignore
- Ship Repairs
- Pay for Medical Care
Step 2 : Assign and Resolve Crew Tasks
Choose 6 crew members for this step; the rest are busy manning and maintaining the ship
Add the Benefits of Loyalty crew task. This is available only to the Captain (Compendium p.112)
Add the Faction Job crew task. A roll of 1d6 equal to or less than Loyalty is required (Compendium p.111). A Faction Job will entail Danger Pay with a +3 modifier.
Find a Patron : only a natural 6 adds a Patron
Step 3 : Determine Job Offers
If the crew have received a Faction Job or a Patron Job, generate the details for it
- Danger Pay : the credits are replaced by kudos for the world the employer is based on

- BHC
House Rule : If the new job can be completed in a future turn rather than in the current one, immediately perform, for this job, the Mission Selection phase (Compendium p.116-147) and, if required, the Battle Steps 1 to 3.
Step 4 : Assign Equipment
Step 5 : Resolve Rumours
If a Quest is generated, there is (slight) possibility that it is a Bug Hunt, which implies a strike against Chaos, forced on the crew by a Divine. Refer to Bug Hunt at the back of the Compendium.
Step 6 : Choose your Battle
If the Story Clock has reached 0 Ticks, skip this step and play the next Story Clock scenario, and also determine the next Story Clock event if this has not already been decided. If not :
- Check for Rivals
If no Rival has intervened then :
- Choose to carry out a waiting Faction Job or Patron Job
- or choose to Attack a Rival
- or choose to Continue a Quest
- or choose an Opportunity Mission
Determine the type of mission by referring to Mission Selection (Compendium p.116-147)
